From the Publisher
The effects of lupus — a difficult-to-diagnose condition in which the immune system attacks the body — can be mild or life threatening. Therapy and awareness of lupus have improved greatly in recent years, and this book contains the latest information about the disease, its diagnosis, and its cures. The book covers different types of lupus; self-care and when to call the doctor; lupus and pregnancy; self-help measures, including rest, diet, and exercise; complementary remedies; dealing with flares; and coping with work and money difficulties.

A Chicago reporter stricken with lupus gives himself the assignment of finding a way back on his feet. After spending nearly 2 ½ years researching and exactly $4,934.48 on tanning equipment (that’s right, sun tanning equipment), he files this report on a long-ignored, drug-free, non-patentable, counter-intuitive therapy that worked.

Sharon Moore, a lupus survivor, describes drug-free ways to nurture the mind, body, and spirit and writes with the understanding of someone who’s been there. Chock full of specific, scientific, well-documented evidence on effective alternative treatments, this book is a godsend for anyone suffering from lupus.

5. Lupus Novice: Toward Self-Healing

More than a decade ago, Laura Chester was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosis, a degenerative disease afflicting millions of Americans, most of them women. Reaching beyond limited, symptom-centered conventional medicine, she began a journey familiar to many whom medicine has pronounced incurable. Combining alternative approaches (including homeopathy and anthroposophical medicine) with psychotherapy, she was able to reverse her illness, learning along the way the essential role of personal and spiritual discovery in healing. The new edition brings her story up to date and features an extensive foreword on immune-system disorders.

The lupus malar rash ,also called the butterfly rash, is probably the best known characteristic of lupus. The lupus butterfly rash may be one of the first signs that you may have lupus. The malar rash occurs in about half of the patients with SLE and is characterized by a butterfly-shaped red rash that extends over the bridge of the nose and the cheeks. The rash may be flat or raised. The malar rash often appears or gets worse after sun exposure or stress that causes an increase in the circulation to the skin.

Sometimes the lupus butterfly rash appears on other parts of the body as well, usually on the trunk, arms or legs. The malar rash is normally is itch-free and painless, although it may itch and cause a burning sensation. Sometimes the malar rash accompanies a flare (an active state of lupus). The malar rash may be the first sign of lupus, the sign that lupus is entering an active phase or it may actually cause the disease to attack other tissues in the body.

Lupus malar rash treatment

1. When you have lupus rash, it is very important to avoid exposing the affected skin to sunlight. Also, you should avoid exposing the skin to irritants and chemicals, as they can seriously aggravate the rash.
Photosensitivity is a serious problem, especially for those with lupus. But with the proper know-how those with lupus can lead a normal outdoor life.
Apply sunscreen 20 to 30 minutes before leaving the house. Most health experts recommend reapplying sunscreens every 2 or 3 hours, or more if active or swimming. However a recent study suggests that reapplying 20 minutes after stepping outside, instead of waiting 2 hours, can reduce your UV exposure by as much a 40 percent.
I use MD Skincare Power Sun Protection SPF 45 Sunscreen Cream. I love it because it is oil-free quickly absorbs into skin ,Non-greasy, water-resistant lotion .

2. Sometimes topical steroids help resolve rashes, and other times people will require oral or injected steroids to bring the rash under control. Ask your dermatologist.

3. Some types of quinine found in most anti-malarial drugs (like plaquenil) have also been shown beneficial in the treatment of some of the skin irritations that lupus can cause.

4. Aveeno Active Naturals is one of the best out of the Best, it help with rash, bumps, and any other issues with fragrance. It is a mild blemish treatment cleanser free of perfumes and harsh chemicals. If you are dealing with chronically dry skin and breaking out in unexplained rashes, visit a dermatologist before using it.

i wish you all good!
